Summary: Consists principally of illustrations of methods and instruments used in training of pilots for blind flying. Scenes at Wright Field, Ohio, University of California (Hq for ROTC). Aircraft: PT-2,3 PT-3, BT-2C, N2C-1 Douglas 0-28, 0-2 and DH-4 trailing tow target, shows also Charles A. Lindbergh and the Spirit of St. Louis in New Vork to Paris flight. Reel 1 -- 1) First 200 feet on reel devoted to flight line scene at Wright Field showing hangar construction in background. Main subject in foreground is a small three-wheel apparatus with gasoline motor. Apparatus resembles cockpit with controls of an aircraft with gun mounted on top section of same. Machine is demonstrated by civilian and military project officers upon street near flight line at Area B, Wright Field. Apparatus driven around upon the street showing maneuverability. 2) CU of cockpit showing the operator's foot and hand control sticks and of the equipment in motion. 3) CS two pilots standing in open area wearing helmets -- men remove helmets and put same on backward simulating condition of blind flying -- helmets fit down over eyes. 4) CU cockpit of unidentifiable aircraft showing instrument panel, hand-points out various characteristics of the instrument panel. 5) CS drawing of early model aircraft used for training in blind flying. 6) CS still photo of pilot during blind flying training. 7) CU chair set up on ground near porch of building. Sign on porch, "University of California, Headquarters, R0TC". Two captains walking into scene, signal for student pilot to enter scene. Pilot enters scene and takes seat in the chair. 8) CS pilots burying faced into box-like affair while the two officers spin the pilot around in circle. Several shots of this scene showing the two officers spinning the pilot around in circle and then stopping the chair and questioning the pilot whose head is buried in the box-like affair. 9) MS group of other pilots standing watching the operation laughing at subject pilot seated in the chair. 10) CS another test performed by same officer as in previous scene. Two officers standing near as subject pilot is revolved in chair. Test conducted near aircraft inscribed, "Paloalta School of Aviation." 6) CS of another test performed in same manner upon lot near building, student pilot holding cards in either hand, "turn right", "turn left" on the cards. Test officer asks questions of pilot as to correct direction -- -- pilot puts out wrong hand. 7) CS interior Army School of Aviation building showing machines used to test pilot on balance, student pilots operating same, instructor near by. This machine resembles early type Link trainer. Charles Augustus Lindbergh (February 4, 1902 – August 26, 1974) was an American aviator, military officer, author, inventor, and activist.
